Start a Fire Conversation

Learn how to launch a Fire with Dads with Wisdom's help.

From First Spark to Father-Owned Fire

1. Your First Two Gatherings

DWW facilitates the first two Fires, the two Sparks that establish connection, expectations, and culture.

2. The Handoff

Before the second Spark ends, the group leaves with Fire #3 already scheduled, a confirmed location, and a Fire Tender identified. Beginning with Fire #3, the fathers lead their own Fire using the Fatherhood Fires Flint (guidelines and suggestions).

3. Your Group Takes It Forward

Your group takes the lead, using the gathering plan established at the handoff. Stay with one host, rotate among backyards, or arrange another location together. No ongoing payment to DWW is required to keep meeting. Your group chooses its frequency; see the FAQ for suggestions.

Fatherhood Fires Values and Practices

Come as you are. There is room for everyday conversation, honest challenges, and things worth celebrating. Share at your own pace, listen with care, and make space for each other.

Supporting each other's agency while holding empathy for others as they navigate their challenges.

Share at your own pace. You decide what you feel ready to talk about.

Allowing space for folks.

While all participants are fathers, topics cover life in general and are meant to support the whole person.

Going beyond the average conversation and sharing what is difficult and what should be celebrated.

Make room for meaningful conversations alongside everyday moments and laughter.

Creating an intention for self and for the group, and checking in with self and others if this is happening.

Show up for yourself and other dads. You are needed and wanted here and outside of the Fire.

What the Fire Tender Does

Before Spark #2 ends, one father volunteers to be the Fire Tender. The Fire Tender is the main point of contact for the group to keep the group at the minimum fathers, make any requests such adding "a log" and to relay any desire for the group to take on more fathers. All fathers can refer back to the fatherfires guide to help support the fires in maintaining the intentional depth.

How Payment Works

Joining the Fire List is always free. You're only asked to pay once DWW has enough fathers ready to form a Fire in your area, so there's no cost or commitment just to get matched.
